Melatonin and its effects on our organism

From the first moments of life, when the light breaks on our bodies and all systems are brought on line for takeoff toward life, they are put in place many mechanisms that throughout our lives we explain many of the phases and behaviors of man.

Melatonin is a hormone secreted by the pineal gland in the brain stem, it is formed from the synthesis of an essential amino acid: Tryptophan. Its function as neurohormone is very important because it regulates the biological clock that we built in our bodies, making governing body needs to rest, by sleep induction, based on circadian rhythms of the human body.

Their highest levels detected in infants between 3 and 12 months, hence needs more sleep at this stage, is evident, it remains high at puberty and adulthood until age 30, decreasing towards senile stage .

Not only regulates sleep induction, physiological stigma talks about the effect on the immunoregulatory system, and the ability to capture free radicals potentially slowing the oxidation of brain tissue, improves mood, concentration and reduce the effects of lag times when we traveled through several meridians because our circadian rhythm needs time to adjust to the new schedule and suffer various pains ( syndrome  known as Jet Lag), shift work or  night long, that interfere with our normal sleep pattern

It is properly proven beneficial effect on the immune system by inhibiting the onset of viral colds and respiratory processes. But its best effect is on the biological clock cycle or lap, which makes it the neurotransmitter hormone relaxation, studies that endorse effect on depression caused by sleep disorders, all favored by vitamin B 6 helps synthesize the hormone in humans, to remain in sufficient ranges in the various cycles of the body and the dream appears naturally as collateral in the natural repair process of our cells at night time when our body repairs and Daytime removes waste from metabolism.

There synthesized supplements and talk about that low doses are sufficient, but advocate for their synthesis in a natural way, by reinvesting adequate in foods containing it in its precursor form as nutrients: oatmeal, cherry, yeast, corn, rice or banana, although it is said that melatonin is more effective plant in cocoa.

Many people use to regulate their sleep function, after having lost sporadically, and we know that once suppressed melatonin may again suffer from insomnia.

It also raises and therefore marketed without medical restrictions in many countries, has anti-aging effects on the nervous system and, in general, on the prevention of cancer, given the same inhibitory effect on free radicals as an antioxidant.

Knowing that there is a synthetically prepared to supply function as a natural hormone melatonin in humans, is important, but knowing how to maintain adequate levels in our body is more important, because of the operation of all organs is in its physiology and the clock cycle, or biological clock, for which Mother Nature has given mankind wisely.

Current digital era threatens the natural production of melatonin in the body, because the wavelength on the screen of iPad, computer, smartphone, LED lights and other electronic equipment, make it delayed his induction cycle by lowering its secretion and thus the undesirable effect of insomnia and its consequences to the surface totaling some restful sleep with consequent wake up feeling tired and irritable.
